Brisbane is located in Queensland and its location denotes the best time of the year to visit. The city is located on the brink of the tropics which is why the weather depends on tropical influences. The winters here are cold and wet while the summers are hot and humid.

Year round humidity is very high, which can act as a terrible hindrance to people wanting to travel to the area. A simple travelerís tip advises that trips to Brisbane be made during late summer and early fall, September being the ideal month to travel to the area. Besides enjoying the great weather, you can take part in many activities which are held during this time of the year.

Australia offers many tourist spots to see and visit and Brisbane is just one of them. Here are a few ideas on how to spend your time during your vacation in Brisbane.

Southbank is one thing to see while in Brisbane. The famous EXPO was held in 1988 although the place is seldom identified with this important event. However, this is not the only great point of Southbank as the fake beach looks much like the real thing which is why many people enjoy coming here.

People that are not crazy about walking on crabs or be stung by jellyfish will very much appreciate the artificial beach. There are also many restaurants, stores and bars so you can dine, or shop to your heartís content.

Southbank is famous for its markets which is visited by most people on weekends when the vendors come to the city to showcase their best merchandise. The entire area is great for shopping and entertainment. Friday nights are usually dedicated to Latin dances, so if you are into this kind of thing you should not miss on the opportunity to pay a visit to the area while you are visiting the city.

You can travel out of Brisbane and head to the Gold Coast. Although it is a place dedicated to rich clientele, the place is accessible to anyone that wants to come here. Just get behind the wheel and take a trip out to the Gold Coast which is within one hour of driving from Brisbane.

If you want to stay inside the city you can always take a walk to the Botanic Gardens which are very beautiful and widely appreciated by tourists and locals alike. Other recreational areas include the Forest Parkand the Portside Wharf.

A special place to visit while in Brisbane is the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, which was opened in 1927. This is the first reservation of koalas ever to be founded and it is open for visiting; here you can watch the cute animals going about their daily business.

If you are more into fishing or boating you can travel to Moreton Bay. Also, bicycling is a very popular activity on the city pathways.
